Don't foget to visit our sister site, www.theyesterdayroadco.com, for information concerning

Lynda's book "The Art of Historical Thinking."

The Wolf Mansion is a private residence, but we have tried to preserve and restore it as much as possible along the original lines. It is described as a modest Victorian Italianate, and the beauty of the house lies in its archtectural design. The tall windows let in light throughout the house, and the high ceilings give the rooms a stately appearance.

The house is listed on the National Historic Register since 2007. The application was submitted by Cynthia Ogorek, author and historian.

We did not find anything original in the house, other than the structure itself. But we were able to fill it with heirlooms from our family, some going back as far as 1813. Lynda's grandmother Daisy was a prolific quilter, and we have at least forty quilts that Daisy made throughout her life.  There are portraits of Lynda's great-great grandparents, painted in 1849, along with other art work from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The portraits themselves are lovely and much better looking than Lynda's relatives actually were! (Artistic license).

We are both devotees of Charles Dickens, and the favorite book is Nicholas Nickleby. We have collected Department 56 Dickens houses, and have a permanent display in a room on the second floor.

The author Gene Stratton Porter is part of Indiana's heritage. She was a naturalist as well as a talented author, and her novels revolved around Indiana at a time when swamps were prevalent. She wrote many books, among them were Freckles and Girl of the Limbrlost. We are working on a display to honor her achievement.
